BOOLEAN

Animation

The Boolean->Animation command in the Model module allows you to animate Boolean operations by specifying the operation type, and setting keyframes for one or both of the objects in the animation. You can also animate materials.

You can keyframe the objects' animation before or after the Boolean Animation operation. The result of an animated Boolean operation is always a polygon mesh object.

For more information on using Boolean operations, see Tips for Using Boolean Operations.

Procedure

  1. Create both objects and keyframe their animation.
  2. Select the object on which to perform the Boolean operation.
  3. Choose the Boolean->Animation command.

    The Animated Boolean dialogue box is displayed.

  4. Select one of the three operations: Union, Intersection, or Difference, which are described on Operations.
  5. Select one of the options for Material, which are described on Material.
  6. If material is animated, select the Animated Material option.
  7. Select the other two options if you like (see the Remove unnecessary options on Remove Unnecessary Vertices).
  8. Click Ok to accept the settings or Cancel to exit the dialogue box.

A Boolean object is created according to the options you chose. In the Schematic window, it is labelled "booln."

You can still create keyframes for both objects in the Boolean animation after you have set and accepted the Boolean Animation options.

Tip:

Before replaying the animation, hide both original objects to see the effect on the Boolean object.
