PREFERENCES

Hierarchy Manipulation

The Preferences->Hierarchy Manipulation command is a toggle, available in all modules except Tools, that allows you to manipulate the parent object of a hierarchy while keeping the position of its children relative to the parent. Hierarchy Manipulation is deselected by default.

Procedure

  1. Choose the Preferences->Hierarchy Manipulation command.
  2. Select a parent object in a hierarchy and perform the desired transformation on it.

The children follow the movement of the parent object, maintaining their positions relative to the parent.

This command is particularly useful when manipulating a character's limbs. For example, if the upper limb of a leg is rotated, the lower limb and foot move with it.
