PREFERENCES

Auto Save

The Preferences->Auto Save command, available in all modules except Tools, allows you to set an automatic saving procedure. This allows you to save your work to a backup database while it is in progress. This ensures that you always have a recent backup copy of your scene.

Note:

You must create a backup database called BACKUP before activating this command. For more information about creating a database, see the Managing Files section of the Working with SOFTIMAGE 3D User's Guide.

Procedure

  1. Choose the Preferences->Auto Save command.
The Auto Save dialogue box is displayed.
  2. Set the parameters, then click Accept to exit the dialogue box.

A message is displayed on the status line telling you if the Auto Save option is activated or deactivated.

Parameters

Active

Shows if the Auto Save command is active or not.

BACKUP Database Path

The path to the BACKUP database. The database name must be BACKUP.

How a Backup Copy is Generated

The current BACKUP database is renamed to BACKUP_TMP. Then a new BACKUP database is created which receives the saved backup scene. If the backup is successful, the BACKUP_TMP database is removed. This means that there is always only one scene in the BACKUP database at any time. The scene that was saved in BACKUP can be loaded like any other scene using the Get->Scene command.

Saving Time

Sets the frequency of saving in minutes. You can select one of the default options (5, 15, 30 or 60), or specify another length of time by typing a value in the Other text box except 0 (zero). If you specify 0, it reverts to 1 minute by default.
