HISTORY

Undo

The History menu cell commands are available in the Model, Actor, and Matter modules. They allow you to undo and redo operations. They also allow you to set the number of previous operations that are retained in "history" memory. The History operation itself can also be deactivated.

Note:

These commands are not available in the Motion or Tools modules, but the u Supra key for the Undo and Redo commands is available in all modules.

It is important to understand what the History menu cell commands can and cannot do in terms of restoring deleted elements.

When you delete an element and then try to undo this action (choose History->Undo), you recuperate all information that was completely contained within the element. If there was a link with another element, this information is destroyed by the deletion and cannot be restored.

When you delete a model and then choose History->Undo, you recuperate the model geometry and state as well as the materials, textures, and lattices. Even if it looks as if materials or textures are separate from the models, they are actually contained and stored in the model. However, links between the model and other elements, such as constraint animation, etc. are lost.

Undo

The History->Undo command undoes the last operation. You can also press the u Supra key on the keyboard while clicking to perform this command.

Not all operations can be undone. The Undo command is used mainly to undo transformations, geometry modifications, tagged points, cluster operations, Spreadsheet editing operations, and DopeSheet operations, as well as to recuperate deleted objects and parent links which have been cut.

HISTORY

Redo

Redo

The History->Redo command redoes the last operation that you "undid." You can also press the u Supra key on the keyboard while right-clicking to perform this command.

HISTORY

Dispose

Dispose

The History->Dispose command erases the History memory. When deleting a scene and loading in a new one, this command ensures that no traces of the old scene are left.

HISTORY

Setup

Setup

The History->Setup command displays the History Setup dialogue box. You can set the operation stack size, which is the number of operations that SOFTIMAGE 3D remembers (the number of operations that you can undo or redo).

Deselect the Active option to deactivate the History commands completely.
