GET SUBSTITUTION

Down/Up

The Get->Down/Up commands are available in all modules except Tools. They allow you to substitute the selected element(s) with a different version that has an assigned substitution number. This is especially useful if you want to test certain effects in your scene and want to save computation time by using a less detailed version.

You can set an element's substitution number using the Info->Elements command.

Procedure

  1. Select an element.
  2. Choose the Get->Down/Up command.

Down selects a version with a higher substitution number than the current element (since default subs. starts at zero).
Up
selects a version with a lower substitution number.

Note:

Your basic definition should have the substitution number set to zero.

This feature actually reads objects previously saved on disk and replaces them in memory. The item retrieved from the database is always the latest available version of the element with the appropriate substitution number.
