GET

Scene

 

The Get->Scene command is available in all modules except Tools. It allows you to load a scene that has been saved previously with one of the Save commands (see description starting on Save->Scene).

Procedure

  1. Choose the Get->Scene command. The Load browser is displayed for the current Read database's SCENES chapter.
  2. Select the scene file name you want to load then click the Load button, or double-click on the scene file name.

To access scene files in other databases, double-click the two dots (..) at the top of the scroll box to move up to the database level. You can then enter another database's list of scenes. For more information, see the Databases section of the Working with SOFTIMAGE 3D User's Guide.

Picture Files

Picture files are a special case in SOFTIMAGE 3D since they can be stored in a database other than the database where your scene is located.

When texture files are read from a scene, SOFTIMAGE 3D checks for the necessary picture files in the following places in this order:

Parameters

Text Box

You can type in the name of the scene or path that leads to it. You can also type path shortcuts to access outside databases. The text box supports direct input. There are a number of shortcuts you can use.

Scroll Box

Lists the scene files in the current database. To quickly access various directories, you can click on quick access entries to jump from one directory to another without scrolling or typing path names.

Moves up to the next directory level; in this case, the available databases.

Options

Displays the List Options dialogue box common to all browsers. You can set sorting and viewing options. For more information, see Options.

Search

Displays the Find Element dialogue box common to all browsers. You can set search options and find elements. For more information, see Search.

Cancel

Exits the dialogue box.

Load

Loads the currently selected scene into the SOFTIMAGE 3D workspace.
