SHAPE

Set Cluster

The Shape->Set Cluster command in the Motion module allows you to select a series or cluster of tagged points on a patch, polygon mesh, or NURBS curve or face and save them to a name. Named clusters can then be edited and animated.

For information about shape and cluster animation, see the Shape and Cluster Animation section of the Animating User's Guide.

Tip:

If you are creating very large models, consider using cluster animation instead of shape animation. A cluster stores only an index plus a vector for each control vertex, unlike a shape which stores complete information. When you create a cluster for this purpose, be sure to tag all the points of the object.

Procedure

  1. Tag points using the Tag command or the t Supra key.
  2. Choose the Shape->Set Cluster command.

The Set Cluster dialogue box is displayed.

  3. Enter or edit the cluster's name.
  4. Click New to add a new cluster name to the cluster list, or click Replace to update the points assigned to the current active cluster.
  5. Click Ok to accept the settings, or Cancel to cancel the operation.
