PLOT

Shape

The Plot->Shape command in the Motion module records shapes of an object previously animated by methods, such as lattice or cluster animation, curve or surface deformation, or Quick Stretch. These shapes are generated onto the actual geometry of the object, resulting in shape animation. You can then delete the previous form of animation. For example, you can animate a curve used to create a revolving object, plot its shape, and then delete the animated curve. The animation is retained because it has been copied onto the geometry of the object.

This command is useful for saving the shapes created using complex combinations of deformation on an object.

Note:

You cannot use Plot->Shape animation for an object that already has shape animation, even if other deformations are applied.

Procedure

  1. Select the animated object.
  2. Choose the Plot->Shape command.

    The Plot Shape dialogue box is displayed.

  3. Enter the Start and End frames of the animation.
  4. Choose the Copy Method:
  1. Click Ok to accept the settings and close the dialogue box. The shapes are generated and copied onto the object.
