PLOT

Rotation Fcvs

The Plot->Rotation Fcvs command in the Motion module allows you to record the x, y, and z-axes orientation of an object, at every frame. A function curve for each axis is created, marking the x, y, and z-axes' positions of the object at each frame.

This command is particularly useful for recording the resulting rotation function curves of articulated chain joints for which the corresponding chain effector has been animated or attached to an animation path. This essentially allows you to convert inverse kinematics into direct (forward) kinematics animation.

Make sure to relax or remove the animation of the effector. If not, the playback results in a different animation since both the direct and inverse kinematics are applied to the chain (rotations on the joints define the preference angle for inverse kinematics).

Procedure

  1. Move to the frame at which you want to activate the command.
  2. Select the object.
  3. Choose the Plot->Rotation Fcvs command.

The Plot Confirmation dialogue box is displayed:

  4. Click Ok to proceed or Cancel to cancel the operation.
  5. Choose the FcrvSelect->Object->All command to view the three function curves in the Fcurve window.
