PLAYCONTROL

PlayControl

The PlayControl menu cell in the Motion module allows you to set parameters that define the playback of a scene.

For more information about playing back and controlling your animating, see the Playing an Animation section of the Animating User's Guide.

Procedure

  1. Choose the PlayControl menu cell

The Playback Controls dialogue box is displayed.

  2. Set the playback control parameters as desired.

Parameters

Start Frame

Starting frame number.

End Frame

Ending frame number.

Frame Step

Displays the sequence by the number of steps. If you set the Frame Step to zero, you can display your animation in real time. SOFTIMAGE 3D skips frames if necessary so that your animation is played back in real time when you select the forward or backward arrows in the playback box.

Current Frame

Currently displayed frame number.

Frame Pause

Inserts a pause between frames.

Playback Speed

Frames per Sec

Number of frames per second (30 frames for NTSC video, 24 frames for film).

Keep Timing

When Frames per sec is changed, select this option to retain current keyframe time values. Keyframe timing is not retained when this option is selected.

Refresh Scene

Refreshes the scene automatically. If deselected, you can only refresh the scene using the r Supra key.

Note:

Playback control parameters are saved with the scene. Also, the renderer does not consider frames outside the range of the starting and ending frames set and does not render them even if they are specified in the Render Setup dialogue box.
