PATH

Pick Trajectory

The Path->Pick Trajectory command allows you to link a selected object to a trajectory and specify at which frame you want the object's animation to start.

For a description of trajectories, see the Plotting Trajectories section of the Animating User's Guide.

Note:

Trajectories do not apply to cameras and lights - they apply only to models.

Procedure

  1. Create a path using any type of curve.
  2. Select an object.
  3. Choose the Path->Pick Trajectory command.
  4. Pick a curve, following the mouse instructions in the status bar at the bottom of the screen.

The curve flashes green and the Trajectory Timing dialogue box is displayed.

  5. Set the First frame, which is the starting frame where the object starts translation on its trajectory.
  6. Click Ok to accept the setting and close the dialogue box.

The object is linked to the trajectory.

  7. Using the playback box, play the animation to view your results.

Tip:

You can edit the first frame of the animation by choosing the Path->Timing command to display the Trajectory Timing dialogue box. Modify the parameters, then click Ok to accept the changes and exit the dialogue box. When you play back the sequence, the new timing is applied.
