EFFECTS->WAVE->ATTACH

Node

The Effects->Node command allows you to attach a wave to a node object. During playback, the object's points are modified by the wave.

Procedure

  1. Select a wave.
  2. Choose the Effects->Node command.
  3. Pick the node object.

The object flashes, indicating that the wave has been attached.

Note:

When a wave is attached to a node, it becomes a child of the node. If the object is moved or animated, the wave (and its effect) follow the object. This is usually the desired result. However, if you want the wave to remain stationary while an object moves through it, attach the wave as a branch wave to a null parent of the object. Refer to the Effects->Branch command (below).

EFFECTS->WAVE->ATTACH

Branch

The Effects->Branch command allows you to attach a wave to a branch hierarchy. During playback, all the objects in the hierarchy are modified by the wave.

Procedure

  1. Select a wave.
  2. Choose the Effects->Branch command.
  3. Pick the top node of the branch.

The node flashes, indicating that the wave has been attached to the branch.

Note:

The wave's effect is computed in the space defined by the top node of the branch. The wave moves with this node, and the effect on the node's children is computed accordingly.
