EFFECTS

AnimatedPush

The Effects->AnimatedPush command in the Motion module is an animated version of Effect->Push. These effects allow you to move points on an object in the direction of the object's surface normal. With AnimatedPush, you can animate the original model, or keyframe the Push points option in the dialogue box.

Procedure

  1. Choose the Effects->AnimatedPush command in the Motion module. The associated Push dialogue box is displayed.
  2. Set the Push points option to specify how far to push the points of the model in SOFTIMAGE units. You can use negative values for this option to create an inverted effect.
  3. Click Ok, then pick the model to which you want to apply the effect.

A new model is created and the effect icon appears.

  4. Select the icon, then choose the Effects->Edit Parameters command in the Motion module.

The Push dialogue box is displayed again.

  5. Key the distance values for the animation using the dialogue box Key button and Frame text box.

Note:

The magnitude of the push is multiplied by the scaling values applied to the icon.
