CONSTRAINT

Bounding Plane

The Constraint->Bounding Plane command in the Actor and Motion modules ensures that one or more constrained objects remain at the surface of the bounding plane object. This is especially useful for constraining an object's location to the floor's surface, a staircase's surface, and so on.

The Constraint->Bounding Plane command can be applied to all types of objects, including meta-clay objects, skeletons, faces, deformed objects, and curves. However, it can only be applied to the root of a hierarchy.

For more information about animating using constraints, see the Constraints section of the Animating User's Guide.

Procedure

  1. Select the objects to be constrained.
  2. Choose the Constraint->Bounding Plane command.
  3. Pick the object that is to act as a constraint.

    The constraining object flashes red.

  4. Select either a constrained object or the constraining object, and perform a transformation as desired.

The constrained objects never moves away from the constraining object's bounding plane.
