LATTICE

MakeLattice

The Lattice->MakeLattice command in the Model module allows you to create the lattice used with the Effects->LocalLattice or Effects->BranchLattice effects in the Motion module. You can specify the resolution of the lattice in the dialogue box, and its initial size and placement by creating and positioning a model as its template.

Note:

Unlike the SOFTIMAGE 3D Lattice commands, when you create a lattice using the MakeLattice effect, it is not applied automatically to the selected model. You must use the LocalLattice or BranchLattice effect after choosing the MakeLattice effect.

Procedure

  1. Create the model to which you want to apply the lattice, and create a model to be used as the lattice bounding box.

    Note:

You can use the same model for both.

  2. Position the models as desired.
  3. Choose the Lattice->MakeLattice command. The MakeLattice dialogue box is displayed.
  4. Set the lattice resolution in X, Y, and Z.
  5. Pick the bounding box model to create the lattice.
  6. Choose the Effects->LocalLattice command in the Motion module.
  7. Pick the lattice, then pick the model to which you want to apply the lattice.

The effect icon appears indicating that the effect is active.

Note:

You can apply a given lattice to an unlimited number of models.

As with all Motion effects, the icon can be animated, and the parameters can be further edited or animated by selecting the icon and choosing the Effects->Edit Parameters.
