PREVIEW

Subregion

The Preview->Subregion command in the Matter module is a toggle that switches the subregion mode on or off. This mode allows you to render an area you define in a scene according to the parameter settings defined using the Preview->Setup command. Objects in the defined area are rendered with material attributes, textures, and lights. Hidden objects are not rendered.

This command gives you only a preview of the subregion on the screen, but does not save the rendered image to a file. For the final rendering of a frame or a sequence, use the Render menu cell.

This command is deselected by default.

Procedure

  1. Choose the Preview->Subregion command to select the subregion mode (if not already selected).
  2. Choose the Preview->Selection or Preview->All command.

    The subregion cropping rectangle is displayed in window B, which is the default Perspective window. If you have another window selected (such as Schematic, Right, Front, etc.) when you choose this command, SOFTIMAGE 3D switches it to the Perspective window.

  3. Define the area you want to preview by sizing and moving the cropping rectangle.
  1. Middle-click to accept the subregion, and start the preview rendering. Right-click to cancel the preview rendering.
