Three of the four parallel projection windows appear in the display by default (Right, Front, and Top). The fourth parallel projection window is called Ortho (see Ortho Window).
In a parallel projection window, an object's projection lines do not converge (hence the term parallel). Because of this, the distance between an object and the camera has no influence on the scale of the object. If one object is closer to the camera, and another object is farther away, both appear to be the same size.
The Front, Top, and Right windows are specific parallel projection windows. In them, the orientation of the camera is orthogonal (perpendicular) to the global coordinate planes (xy, xz, yz). For example, in the Top window, the camera is perpendicular to the xz plane. For more information on global coordinates and planes, see the Space in SOFTIMAGE 3D section in the Working with SOFTIMAGE 3D User's Guide.
Note:
You can render in these windows except when using the SOFTIMAGE renderer.
