SIMULATE

Stabilize

The Simulate->Stabilize command in the Actor module allows you to stabilize an object or articulated chain (especially one with nails) to obtain the optimum starting configuration for your simulation. It does this by calculating the simulation without storing the associated values.

For example, if you want to animate a rope swinging in the wind, but the rope model has kinks in it, you could use the Simulate->Stabilize command to smooth out the kinks or extend the rope toward the ground before starting the simulation. You can stop the stabilization at any point by right-clicking.

For information about nails, see Control->Get Special Control.

Note:

You cannot restore the object or chain to its original position after performing a stabilize operation.

Procedure

  1. Select the object or chain you want to stabilize.
  2. Choose the Simulate->Stabilize command.
  3. The object or chain is stabilized.
  4. Right-click to stop the stabilization process when desired.
