DYNAMICS

Joint Properties

The Dynamics->Joint Properties command in the Actor module allows you to assign friction to each joint in an articulated chain.

Joint properties are also present in the root of a hierarchy of models, where an automatically-generated virtual joint exists between the root model's centre and the overall centre of mass.

Procedure

  1. Select the chain or joint.
  2. Choose the Dynamics->Joint Properties command.

The Joint Physical Properties dialogue box is displayed.

  3. Set the Friction parameters as desired for X, Y, Z.
  4. Click Ok or Ok All to assign the new values to one or all joints in a chain.

Parameters

Friction X Y Z

Allows you to set joint friction for motion on the given axis. A higher value increases the joint's stiffness, while a lower value "greases" the joint.

Ok

Accepts the settings for a single joint.

Ok All

Accepts the settings for all joints.

Cancel

Cancels the last parameter setting changed for a single joint.

Cancel All

Exits the dialogue box.
